How to add an email signature in Gmail

Create a clean signature, add it to Gmail, and make sure it works on every send.

A useful Gmail signature makes it easy for people to reply, understand your role, and find the next step. Keep it short: your name, role, company, and one reliable contact method are usually enough.

First, create the signature content. Use our HTML Email Signature Generator to prepare a clean version, then copy the visible signature into a new Gmail signature. In Gmail, open Settings, select See all settings, find Signature in the General tab, and choose Create new.

Set the new signature as the default for new emails and replies if you use it often. Send yourself a test message to check how it looks on desktop and mobile. Avoid oversized images, too many links, and long taglines: they make messages harder to scan and can render poorly in email clients.
